Q&A: can i travel to mexico without green card?

I’m a resident of the U.S (not a citizen yet) and i want to travel to mexico to get my teeth implants, but i lost my green card in the trash, now i am coming up to get a new one but its gonna be a few months until i receive it, i do have a copy of my green card and i know the number of my card but, can i travel to mexico or any additional country without a green card?

You can place but you can’t re-enter without your visa (green card.)

If you’re going to Mexico you will be required to show your Green card on re-entry[NOT a copy] & entering without it can bring more problems than you can imagine like sitting in a jail while they thoroughly check out your reputation & that you are really who you say you are not to mention that if they find out you’ve been telling the truth the large fine[~$ 1000 US] you will have to pay for not having your green card on you to show case for inspection.

You must show proof of US residency (green card) when you travel to Mexico. If the production of your new green card is still in the making, please make an appointment with your community USCIS office (through Infopass) and get them to stamp a provisional i-551 stamp on your passport. That’ll do.
