Has anyone ever had any bad experiences with dental implants?

Has anyone ever had any bad experiences with dental implants?

If so, can you tell me what happened? I have a friend of mine that had it done and nearly lost her life because she finished up with Sepis {Infection In The Blood}, due to the negligence of the doctor! She now has to have at least 2 more surgeries due to jawbone loss, and has to have bone replaced. I was just wondering if anyone else had a terrible experience with implants.

I had a excellent experience with a dental establish. It was a long process but well worth it.

Implants are very successful if placed by a qualified surgeon. Usually they are placed by a specialist like an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. It should not be painful and you should be able to resume normal actvity the same day.

Usually my patients go to the gym the same day.

Find an OMS in your area.

Why not go to www.dentalfearcentral.com and question the question. There are hundreds, if not thousands of public there who post messages about their experiences at the dentist, their fears etc. More than likely you will get support from public who have had dental implants. Excellent luck.

You need to be at least 18 to get implants – you basically need to have stopped growing because if you grow after getting an establish, the establish will end up in the incorrect position because the bone grows and moves, but the establish won’t.

Implants are the closest business to natural teeth without life natural teeth. As for whether they’re “stronger and better”…well, nothing is better than what mother nature gave you to start with! They’re not necessarily stronger because they can break and break if too much biting force is place on them. Disparate teeth that have a protective ligament around them to cushion the force of chewing, implants are placed directly into the bone so they lack that protective cushion.

Implants can last a very long time, but no dental treatment can ever be “guaranteed” for a time. Currently, establish success tariff are up around 90% for 10 years, which is a lot higher than additional treatments. You never know though…the first guy to get an establish (back in the 1960s) had his for 40 years and died before it needed to be replaced!

The establish is technically the part that is screwed into the bone. The crown on top is what you see that looks like a tooth. It depends what type of crown you get, but for the most part crowns with porcelain won’t stain very much. They can look real, but not as real as natural teeth just because there’s metal on the inside. The metal prevents light from quick through like it does in real teeth, so crowns can look a bit more opaque. But trust me, if the crowns are done well, only a dentist will be able to notice that they’re not real :)

Excellent luck with your treatment!!
