Q&A: Advice on Dental Implants (Replacing Baby Teeth)?

Q&A: Advice on Dental Implants (Replacing Baby Teeth)?

Ciao all. I’m 21 years ancient and I have had two of my baby teeth for my entire life. I have no adult teeth at all above these baby teeth and they are starting to become a bit wiggly, so I’ve chose to look into dental implants. It’s even gotten to the point where there is an impression above one of the teeth where my tooth used to be up further and in my gums more. I’ve questioned family, friends, and co-workers for advice on what to do, but I want an un-biased opinion. Here it goes…

Pricing:
We have a dentist in our family and he’s going to give us a money off on the crown part of the procedure. He said what would normally run me $ 1,500, he will do at cost for around $ 500-$ 600. I haven’t shopped around too much, is that a excellent price? He referred me to his “partner” for the establish procedure, which I’m guessing is the actual expensive part.

Procedure:
Since my baby teeth are the second teeth from my main teeth, I need crowns place in the day that my teeth are taken out. How painful is the procedure? My dentist (family) tried wiggling the teeth and he said they might last another 6 months to a year, it’s just a guess, though. He also said that it’s up to me. I’m not the best at making decisions! Especially expensive ones. I find it hard to imagine having someone (willingly) rip out my teeth, and paying them for it. Do you reckon that I should do the implants as soon as possible? Should I wait? Am I getting a excellent price on the crowns?

I would really like ANY and all advice. From opinions to actual experience. Thank you so much, I really be grateful for it. I don’t know how this Yahoo! Answers business works exactly, so I’ll give my email: mmarinello7@yahoo.com. Thank you!!
I know there are no adult teeth because I’ve have many X-Rays throughout my life, including one last week. I have gotten a professional opinion, from two dentists so far, one is my fixed dentist and one is my family dentist, he IS a professional. I wouldn’t base my choice by Yahoo answers, I was simply asking for advice on timing also. If it’s simpler to take on a large debt quicker rather than later in life. Thanks for your opinion, though. I do be grateful for it.
Re: Grandpa Walleye

Thank you for your response! That’s exactly what I wanted to know. I thought that the price was a excellent deal, even if that was for each crown. Since these baby teeth are in the front of my mouth, what is the process of a temporary crown so that I don’t go with two missing teeth? My (family) dentist had mentioned something about a plate. Is that kind of like a retainer with two teeth emotionally involved so that my additional teeth don’t go?

How do you know there’s no adult teeth there, have they done x-rays to make sure?
Maybe the baby teeth need to be extracted so the adult teeth can come in.

As far as the crown pricing – is the $ 500-$ 600 for two crowns? If so it’s a excellent price. If that’s the price for one that’s not so excellent.

The implants are the more expensive part. Implants usually run between $ 1500-$ 2200 per tooth.
You will also have the cost of the extractions. Probably somewhere around $ 150-$ 200 per tooth.

You should get a professional opinion from a excellent dentist, not your family or co-workers or even Yahoo answers.

Excellent Luck

The price your dentist gave you for a porcelain crown is half of the usual cost and is fantastic deal. The implants will be 2-3 thousand per tooth and thy will be placed painlessly. You will have some post op discomfort and it will be less than an extraction would be. You will be agreed some pain pills if you need them. Implants are the
best way we have to replace teeth and this is especially right in cases like yours. You will be very pleased with them and your smile and appearance will be dramatically improved. Excellent luck.

You have been agreed an brilliant price by the family connection, but of course the actual surgical part will cost more than that. But you are right to have it done by someone who specialised in the placing of the implants.
I had mine done that way and a family member completed the placing of the teeth.

But to enable right and excellent healing and the establish to absorb into the bone etc etc I went into a temporary plate for six months to give the healing and end a better result………….you need to discuss this aspect as it is not normal to place the crowns on and get on with normal life as they will not ‘set’ as such.
The plate is very light weight and just a small piece of material with the fake teeth in place and you wear it twenty four hours a day and take it out and clean it when you clean your teeth. In fact I have another one at the moment whilst coming up for something to heal and then the establish will go in and I will wear it until it is time to place the crowns on.

What do you reckon? Answer below!

average cost dental establish

I have to get a dental establish on tooth #14. They are telling me I have to go under general anesthesia, which I beyond doubt don’t want to do. They are also telling me that they will have to do a sinus lift, and that a very small percentage of public have difficulty with their sinuses afterwards for an indefinite period of time.

My question is: Who out there has had dental implants and what was your experience like? Would you do it again, or get a join instead. Did you have to go under general anesthesia or were they able to use a community? Any info and advice would be helpful.

I have seven implants…..had five high done at one appointmrnt….just freezing….no general…..had to have a special removal plate due to lack of additional teeth.
Expensive but a stable reliable plate as a result…..the gold sub frame for the plate was expensinve but at the time I thought the resulting stability was worth it….

I have done many implants and have had one done on for myself. They were all done under a community anesthetic and were pain free with minimal post op pain (less than an extraction). Of course doing a sinus lift will be more involved, it should still be no huge deal. Unless the teeth that the join would be cemented to are weakened with large fillings and do not need to be strengthened with crowns, an establish is a much better choice. Excellent luck with yours.

Here is a fantastic website that clarifies the procedures. http://www.dentalimplantsfairfield.com/
on top of that website here is some very excellent details courtesy of Dr. Mariana Conant in Fairfield ct.

Dental implants are a fantastic way to replace missing teeth and also provide a fixed solution to having removable partial or complete dentures. Implants provide brilliant support and stability for these dental appliances.

Dental implants are artificial roots and teeth (usually titanium) that are surgically placed into the high or lower jaw bone by a dentist or Periodontist – a specialist of the gums and supporting bone. The teeth emotionally involved to implants are very natural looking and often enhance or restore a patient's smile!

Dental implants are very strong, stable, and durable and will last many years, but on occasion, they will have to be re-tightened or replaced due to normal wear.

Reasons for dental implants:

*
Replace one or more missing teeth without affecting adjacent teeth.
*
Resolve joint pain or bite problems caused by teeth shifting into missing tooth space.
*
Restore a patient's confident smile.
*
Restore chewing, speech, and digestion.
*
Restore or enhance facial tissues.
*
Support a join or denture, making them more reliable and comfortable.

What does getting dental implants involve?

The process of getting implants requires a number of visits over several months.

X-rays and impressions (molds) are taken of the jaw and teeth to determine bone, gum tissue, and spacing available for an establish. While the area is numb, the establish will be surgically placed into the bone and allowed to heal and integrate itself onto the bone for up to six months. Depending on the type of establish, a second surgery may be required in order to place the "post" that will hold the artificial tooth in place. With additional implants the post and anchor are already emotionally involved and placed at the same time.

After several weeks of healing the artificial teeth are made and en suite to the post part of the anchor. Because several fittings may be required, this step may take one to two months to complete. After a healing period, the artificial teeth are securely emotionally involved to the establish, as long as brilliant stability and comfort to the patient.

You will receive care instructions when your treatment is completed. Excellent oral hygiene, intake lifestyle, and fixed dental visits will aid in the life of your new establish.
