Hi you said tooth implants or fake teeth…I have veneers, which I consider fake teeth so I dont know if you mean those too, and if you still have your original teeth but just dont like them or they are cihpped, veneers are a better option I reckon than implants and doubtless cheaper too. I had mine done in 2 appointments(3 if you account for the root canal I had which isnt really part of the normal procedure), one was to mill the teeth down to small points and then they measured the points so they could make the veneers and I had to wear fleeting veneers for a week (which they bond to your teeth and then break off when you return to the dentist)..when I returned a week alter they place the real veneers on. It hurt for about 2 days and was sensitive for about a week. One of them failed because the tooth suffered trauma from the surgery so it couldnt hold the plate (it just hurt for me, it didnt fall off or anything) so they did a root canal to support the plate and that was a 3rd appointment and it only hurt for about a day. The appointment everywhere they shaved my teeth down was about 3 hours and the appointment everywhere they place the veneers on was about 2. The root canal appointment was about 2. One thing I dont like about it is that they are not permanent and I reckon I will have to get new ones in 10 being and they are very expensive since insurance doesnt take in them.

I disagree with this guy about veneers. There are veneers called lumineers that don’t have to cut down your teeth, I had them done and they did not trim my teeth. They make a mold of your teeth, then a week later they place the lumineers over your teeth, so no shots, no trimming of the teeth.

As for implants, its one of the most successful implants that dentists have. I don’t know too much about implants but according to wikipedia its a very successful procedure. I did a search on implants and this website has excellent info. Check it out.

Getting implants is a process, it is not done in all one appointment. I’m not sure how young they will do them. At least 16 or 18? The bone support is the largest issue. The oral surgeon will tell you if you have enough bone support. They are usually concerned if you are a smoker. Usually you will have a consult first to discuss the treatment plot. Then you will have a surgery date to make the incision and house the implant (the titanium post) then the incision is closed and is allowed to heal for sometimes 6 months. Then you have a second appointment to attach a abutment( a titanium screw part that goes on top of the implant) and take impressions to make up the crown that screws on the post. The crown is made at a lab which usually takes 2-3 weeks. Then you will have a third appointment to seat the crown. So pretty much 3-4 appointment. From feedback from other patients, it really is not too much of a painful process. If you’ve had a tooth removed and done well, you will be fine. It will be sore a couple of days after the surgery.

do tooth implants hurt?
i might have to get one

Answer by Paul E
No, not much more than getting a tooth pulled. I had 2 place in last year and there is less bleeding and they healed quick. You just have to wait a few months before they can set the crown in.
Mine are fantastic. Excellent luck!

basically dental implantology or tooth implant is really a procedure wherein a titanium metal is placed into the area everywhere you lost your tooth that will serve as an abutment for the crown the they will place on. usually for you to have an implant its either periodontist, prosthodontist and or general dentist that does implants can check if your a excellent candidate for implant. periodontist by the way is also dentist but he or she specializes in gum surgery, bone grafting and dental implants. while prosthodontist is also a dentist that specializes in dental prosthesis like crown, bridges, dentures and implants.
the reason why i told you if you need to diagnosed and check by them is because they have to take a look at your case, like look in your xray, and check to see if they can do an implant on you, coz if not, they might have to do a bone grafting which a procedure as that they place some bonegraft material into that area and let it heal for a while then after in heals for a couple of weeks then they place in the implant, the reason why (if it need be) that you need a bonegraft is because when they place the implant the supporting structure and the gum will be much better and more stabilize. well painwise i have seen a couple of patients that they only feel a lil bit of pain but its not gonna be that terrible, soreness is just normal, im pretty much sure that whoever does that on you whether if its a general dentist or a specialist, im sure that they will monitor your condition, i would suggest for you to contact your dentist and question your concern, possibly they do implants there and if not they can refer you out to a specialist. hope this piece of info help you.. till here take care and excellent luck
