I have a choice of getting an implant or a bridge, which one will last the longest?

The implant cost more and would require more dentist visits, but a bridge will mean they have to drill down two excellent teeth. If an implant last longer than it would be worth the extra cost.

If you have two excellent teeth, it would make more sense to do the implant. I would despise to have two excellent teeth drilled down to replace one tooth. An implant can last many, many being, as long as you maintain it and keep regular dental visits.
At some point, all dental work needs to be replaced, in any case of what material is used. The one advantage of an implant over a bridge is that an implant will never decay, while decay can form under and around a bridge. An implant is about as close to having your own tooth back as you can get and simpler to clean. Hope that was helpful. Excellent luck!

3i dental implant

I need to have large back tooth removed because it did not take well to a rootcanal that was done. It got infected, and now It has to be removed. I use this tooth to chew on, so I need to have either a bridge or implant place in its house. The dentist is going to place in a bone graft so I can choose if I want an implant at a later date after it heals. I am frightened to death. I only have a few other fillings, and certainly have never had a tooth removed before. I have never been place to sleep. Do you reckon it is necessary?

just produce you have to get a tooth pulled doesnt mean that they should kill you for it.

It’s really up to you. To go under general anesthesia (being place to sleep) is a lot more expensive. If you are wide awake for the procedure, you should not feel any pain other than the inital injection for the local anesthetic. There will be pressure and noises, so if you don’t feel like that, I would go under general.

Having the tooth removed will be less painful and less distress than the root canal was. General anesthesia is only for really serious operations these days, it’s not worth it to get a tooth pulled. The whole operation takes about 1 minute. Be courageous! You won’t feel it anyway.

The local anesth will do but if you’re really frightened of the entire process (seeing all the tools and the reaction of the dentist), then might as well go for the general anesth.
