I don’t know about California, but Medicare doesn’t pay for dental implants in Texas.

Implants are mostly not covered by any insurance as they are considered cosmetic. For more information on this you can read the following very informative article from a dental website

I am 33 and have full dentures. I plotted to have dental implants place in, but just found out that I need severe bone grafting done. I don’t reckon that I can afford this, plus there is noone in my area who can do it (orlando, fl). Am I a candidate for mini implants? Also, if I don’t get regular implants and bone grafting, will my face start to sag from having bone loss?

You will continue to lose bone as you get grown-up, and will doubtless lead to you looking a lot grown-up than you really are and eventually may not even have enough bone to hold in your dentures… Mini implants will still require an quantity of bone to be successfull and whether or not they would be right for you would need to be assessed in the same way as when you were told you needed bone grafts.

Look into (if you weren’t already) getting implants to support dentures, this way you will require less implants, therefore less grafting. (you may need as small as 4 implants 2 for bottom, 2 for top) It won’t be like wearing dentures as the roof of your mouth will be uncovered and they will be flat in your mouth.

If price is a concern, going overseas on a ‘dental holiday’ is an option. For example, All-on-4 dental implants (full implants) plus permanent denture is a solution for people with removable dentures. In many cases All-on-4 can be done without need for bone-grafting due to the unique implant procedure. All-on-4 implants plus permanent denture is a FDA approved procedure that was invented in Europe. There are many western trained implantologists practicing in Bangkok.

The cost of All-on-4 in the US is between $ 20,000-$ 30,000 per jaw. In Bangkok, the All-on-4 procedure costs between $ 10,000 and $ 12,000 per jaw. 7-10 days is needed for the complete procedure. It is vital to note that not everyone is a candidate for All-on-4 and the implantologist would need to see a digital xray of the patient’s jaw to make that judgment.
