Q&A: dental implant?

Q&A: dental implant?

what is a dental implant and how much do they cost in the uk or us

Answer by mo
a dental implant is used to replace a missing tooth or teeth.
It is a permenent placement of a crown.

a post is surgically inserted into place and allowed to intregrate into the jaw bone, the titanium post attaches into the bone,
a crown is then permentently affixed to the post.

in the us a simple placement could be 700.00 to 1500.00
in addition the crown will be 300.00 to 1000.00

I first went to an oral surgeon. He drilled a hole into my jawbone and screwed a single titanium post into the hole, this functions just as the roots of your original tooth.
After the post was in place I went to the dentist for the crown (more like a full tooth without the roots). This is permanently attached to the post. The crown has a hole passing through it which is placed on the post and held in place with a “nut”. Then the hole on the occlusal surface is then filled with composite and it’s done. You floss it like a regular tooth… the post is not visible, you just see what looks like a capped tooth.

In the US I paid $ 3,000 in 2004 when everything was done…if you have the money and the surgeon says your a good candidate go for it…I have been really pleased.

As far as dental restorations… the usual crown is just covering your original tooth structure. but with an implant. a metal post is drilled into the jawbone. it sticks out of the gum like about 8 mm and a crown is cemented to that.

its going to cost you too much, so goto mexico, HA but i would expect to pay 1,000 to 2,000

Here’s a first-person narrative of an experience having a dental implant: http://www.healthangle.com/procedures/tooth-implant/stories/claudia-64-female-massachusetts-implant . It’s good information, btw, and for this person a relatively painless experience that wasn’t such a big deal.

Hi

” Dental implant procedure ” is the term used to describe the entire process you go through from the time you walk into the dentist’s clinic for the first time, when getting your dental implants, till the last time you walk out of there with your new beautiful smile.

The dental implant procedure involves 2 main stages separated by a minimum of 3 months healing time:

• Dental implant surgery – in which the implants are placed into the jaw bone.

• Implant restoration – the process in which a crown is built on top of the dental implants.

Both procedures are very common, and not too complicated. In some cases, depending on the patient’s jaw bone anatomy, a sinus lift or a dental bone graft is needed too.

The duration of the whole dental implants procedure varies…

Dental implant surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and Lasik surgery in India by a company called Indian Health Guru Consultants. The Price for dental and Lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Indian Health Guru Consultants is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, Lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.
They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
