My front #9 tooth has a ancient crown from 10years ago, and was getting infected on the gum. My Periondontist perform gingivectomy on front 6 of my teeth due to gum disease. She learned that my #9 has broke and also need a bone graft due to loss of bone structure! My question is why does it need to be pulled out and can’t I just get a new crown to replace my ancient one. Now, I have to go through extraction, bone graft and wear a flipper for months before I can get dental implant!!!! Is this absolutely the route to go!! Any dentist or periondontist out there, delight advice!! Anyone with personal experience…pls share!!
Should I get a second opinion from another Periodontist or Oral Surgeon?

If she learned a root break, then that tooth must go. Implants are nice, but you may still be a candidate for traditional bridgework, which will be much less expensive and much less time from start to end. You need to have decent bone on the neighbor teeth for bridgework, but you also need decent bone for an implant. Question a dentist if you are a candidate for a traditional Flat Partial Denture (bridge) or a resin bonded FPD aka Maryland bridge. Your dentist and your periodontist may see things differently when it comes to restoration options.

Well My friend if there is infection on the “gum” everywhere #9 is, that means something had to be done there (people don’t realize that when you have a crown your tooth is more prone to decay, gum disease, break, etc they see only a gorgeous crown but you can’t see underneath it. Not even the dentist and x-rays show small information {x-rays don’t go through metals} )
Now , what you are saying on your question looks like it is not a simple case. You don’t mention but did you have a root canal on #9? that can be the reason why is it it was broke and YOU didn’t notice.
Anyway, if there is bone loss, gum disease, crown break beyond the level of bone , a simple restoration is not gonna help you much.
The treatment proposed seems to be the best approach, although I don’t like the thought of a flipper. I’d prefer a flat fleeting crown IF POSSIBLE. Only your dentist can determine that. Also it may be more expensive. Question him about this and if you are willing to pay the extra money tell him this straight away or he won’t even give you this option.

There are fleeting crowns bonded to adjacent teeth.
And they are more comfortable to use than a “flipper” (other names used are stayplate or fleeting partial)

Dental implant surgery is very safe currently. My cousin got her dental implants and Lasik surgery in India by a company called Indian Health Guru Consultants. The Price for dental and Lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Indian Health Guru Consultants is very well-known in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, Lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient tales.
They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plot to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
