is there anyway to replace a tooth without implants?

is there anyway to replace a tooth without implants?

like, cant the dentist just place a fake tooth to fill the gap?

If there is enough tooth structure he can give you a crown. That is a fake tooth. The next step is a bridge with 2 or 3 fake teeth if the tooth needs something to attach itself to. Implants cost the most. I have had teeth extracted on the end because it would have cost too much to replace.
