dental implant-replaced?

dental implant-replaced?

I have a dental implant in the front tooth. It has been over 15 being since I have had it. It is starting to be converted into loose. Can it be tightened? Is it possible to have another tooth place in its house? If not then what needs to be done? Thanks to all who responds.

OK..to commence with the DDS has to figure out why the implant has gotten loose…it could be a case of your loosing bone around it do to bone issues, or it could be that a tooth contacting it from the chewing surface has been hitting it before the rest of the teeth come into contact when you close together or chew…Uneven contact will drive the bone away from both a regular tooth as well as an implant….If you have an issue with bone deterioration it would be foolish to attempt to place another implant in house….your DDS will have to determine why the bone has pulled away from the implant before the next procedure can be chose on and that may be an extraction…Excellent luck and I wish you well.%0

If you had an implant that was placed 15 being ago, it has failed because of the type of implant it was. Back then, osseo-integrated implants like is used now, did not exist. Implants were in their infancy and depended really on mechanical maintenance to hold them in. Their life expectancy was around 5 being. Now the bone grows to and fuses with the implant and they are really in the jaw harder than a tooth root is. Hopefully the ancient implant can be easily removed and a newer type placed. You had fantastic use out of the ancient one and the new one should even be better. Excellent luck.

I would make an appt. with your dentist to have it checked soon. There are 2 possibilities, one that the attachment has loosened, which can often be repaired by unscrewing or cutting off the ancient crown and tapering or putting in a new abutment screw. Or two, the entire implant is loose, which is unusual for an implant to fail after so many being, but it can happen. If the entire implant has come loose, the ancient implant is removed, usually very easily. The hole is filled with bone particles (re-grafted), and the implant is replaced with a new, usually larger and longer one. After it has solidified to the bone, a new abutment is screwed to it, and a new crown if fabricated on the abutment. Excellent Luck!

I am gone the teeth that should be next to my two front teeth (not sure of the technical name for them) I was not born with these teeth so there is no bone there and so I need a bone graft. Can you get bone grafting and a dental implant in the same day? Whats the process?

Answer by Dr akhil
yes the implant inside the bone and bone graft is done in one day BUT the tooth will not be attached to the implant on same day.
ideally we wait for atleast 4-6 months for the implant to attach with the bone, after that only the tooth is flat onto the implant.
you should remember this that implant and surface tooth are two components of artificial implant system.

No, you cannot get the two done at the same time. They need to give you a bone graft to grow bone everywhere it is needed. After the graft it takes 4months to grow the adequate quantity of bone vital to house a dental implant. Once the implant is placed, it takes an additional 4months for the dental implant to fuse with the bone. Then they can place on a crown. The two teeth next to your two inner teeth are the upper left and right laterals

Of course.YES,you can have bone grafting and dental implant at the same day but in our clinic ,my doctor place the teeth or crown fixation after 3 months from the date implant was done.

Youve got exactly what ive got! I just had my wisdom teeth + bone graft surgery 3 days ago. You cannot get a bone graft and a dental implant on the same day because you need to wait for the Bone graft to heal in the area that it is needed. For me, they took some bone from everywhere one of my wisdom tooth was and then place it in everywhere my implant is gonna be, then they place a small screw just to hold the graft in house. Now I have to wait 3 months for that to heal, then I get the actual implant screw. And then I believe you need to wait another 3 months for that to heal and then finally you get the fake tooth attached to it. Its a really long process.. In the end hopefully its worth it!
