Takes about an hour to have the “post” part of the implant to be placed, and takes anywhere from 3-6 months to heal depending on how much bone you have in the area. Sometimes a bone graft needs to be placed, and that’s what takes a while – the new bone has to intergrate into the space. If you already have a space where the implant is going to be placed, likely you will get to skip the grafting part.

With the post has had time to heal, you’ll go back to the dentist to have the “male” part of the implant ( the part that brushwood up out of the bone ) placed, and a crown made.

It will look and function just like your other teeth, only you won’t feel hot, cold, sweet or sour on this “tooth”.

the implant need to heal for at least 6-9 months before adding the abutment that the crown hooks on. getting an implant is about as long as having a baby. it takes that long to “engage” the implant. as far as looking like other teeth, it looks like any other teeth that you have had crowned. absolutely natural. it is a fantastic option for replacing missing teeth.

Really getting dental implants now depends on who you go to. My dental implants are immediate load. So I got my implants and my teeth attached in one day. Here are other ways where they make you wear a partial tooth for up to 3 months for the lowers and up to possibly 6 months for the uppers.

If you get a excellent dental professional you won’t be able to tell your crown from your natural teeth. But it will depend on the professional who you choose.

What do you reckon? Answer below!

If I bleached my teeth or used any whitening products, I reckon they’d change the color of my actual teeth, but would they change the color of my fixed tooth? I don’t reckon they would. And if I can’t use those products, what is the best way to get a whiter smile?

you must have bleached your teeth b-4 you got your implant cause the fixed tooth will not change insignia

The only way to whiting your teeth is to use whiting agents. But like you said that will only whiting the part of your teeth that have not had work done to them. If you have had the crown placed on top of the implant the only option to get that whiter is to take out and place another one your at your expense. But if you only have the implant and not the crown over it then they will be able to match it to whatever color your other teeth are.
